FROM THE SERIES “FUNNY GUYS’

Andreу Lyublinsky developed a series of new characters for the First Public Art Festival of ChO, which took place in Yekaterinburg at the beginning of 2021. In their full numerical and visual composition, they represent the "Project of Artistic and Spatial Orientation" - the name was due to the festival format. The interaction of the audience with the characters was not only real, but also virtual: real objects were placed in an urban environment and continued in the digital dimension - in Instagram @cho_fest, heroes could be settled anywhere in the world with the help of masks, listen to a funny melody and find out what are their names: Elete, Ixy, Vajez, Tedel, etc. 

Andrey Lyublinsky: “The slogan “To stay firmly on your feet” was declared as the motto of the event - I came up with a series of abstract (mostly) characters standing firmly on thin multi-colored legs. I wanted to make a whole group of such creatures, something like a terracotta army, but more fun. Taking into account the conditions, it was decided to make the bas-reliefs, in total there were 14 characters, each about 2 meters high. But this seemed to me not enough, and then masks were developed on Instagram, thanks to which the figures came to life, made sounds, and it was also possible to find out the name of each (the animation schemes turned out to be no less cool). Well, I followed up with a print run of prints, everything looks no worse on paper than in volume. The project turned out to be quite difficult to implement, given that in the midst of work I fell ill with covid - in general, it was not easy, but everything worked out. " 
Especially for the Cosmoscow'21 fair, Andrey adapted his new characters to another exhibition conditions - he created them in the form of a round sculpture made of painted metal.
